Jürg Roth, CFO Geistlich: "We achieved a significant increase in sales in 2021 compared to the previous year, which was marked by the COVID-19 crisis. Compared to the 2019 financial year, organic growth resulted in the high single-digit range, which was also impacted by currency effects in particular." Patients have postponed personal expenses such as travel in favour of dental treatments and therapies. The positive development of the financial year was based on all world regions, with the Asian-Oceanic markets proving to be outstanding growth drivers. Europe and the Middle East showed a similarly dynamic development. Current geopolitical developments bring new uncertainties, and the strong Swiss franc remains a challenge for Geistlich.
Acquisition, cooperations and a global online congress
With the acquisition of the Italian MedTech company Meta Technologies, Geistlich follows its growth path and integrates a long-standing partner. The launch of Geistlich Nexo-Gide® in the US market and the exclusive distribution partnership for NUsurface®, a meniscus implant (both in the Orthopaedics business area), represent partnerships and product developments that lead to even greater patient proximity and complementary offerings. The success story of the globally oriented online congress Geistlich + YOU in regenerative dentistry was continued in 2021 and ensured a high level of popularity with over 6,000 participants.
"The Hub" symbolises the future of Geistlich
The logistics and production building "The Hub" will provide for a significant milestone in the company's recent history. Ralf Halbach: "We have the ambition to continue growing and our company can operate successfully in the markets even in unstable times."
